before the altar of an idol in Rouen
it led to 40 executions
to a dreadful dawn of the times of turmoil

attempt to murder the leader of huguenots (Gaspard de Coligny)
blood bath begun at the night of the Saint Bartholomew

the queen (Catherine de' Medici) used the weakness of the king of France (Charles IX)
to arrange the wedding between both sides,
just to gather them all (huguenots) at once,
to lure them to arrive straight to the slaughter

assassination attempt triggered the crisis
When the Paris’ city gates were closed, the red sun rose

the Swiss guards were called, the stakes were set alight
huguenot leaders left to the crows
the bells of murder were ringing in the night
the crowds became wolves by the blessing of the crown

in this hellish persecution
armed with faith, a dream of heaven
a divine absolution

The ones who claimed to stress good deeds,
brutally murdered many thousands who believed
in the authority of the Holy Word of God,
and their blood stained many pages in history
the devil went wild in France
